For the readers: do you finish every book you start? Some people push through to the end no matter what, almost as a point of principle. Others give a book fifty pages, or a chapter, or just the sample. I'd like to know where people land, and more to the point, what the usual reason is when you stop. Pacing? A character you can't stand? Writing that isn't bad exactly, just not for you? Something in the plot you didn't sign up for? And does it depend on how you got the book? My guess is people dr...

For the readers: do you finish every book you start?

Some people push through to the end no matter what, almost as a point of principle. Others give a book fifty pages, or a chapter, or just the sample. I'd like to know where people land, and more to the point, what the usual reason is when you stop.

Pacing? A character you can't stand? Writing that isn't bad exactly, just not for you? Something in the plot you didn't sign up for?

And does it depend on how you got the book? My guess is people drop something they got free or through a subscription a lot faster than something they paid full price for. I'd like to know if that's actually true.
