Bervet is run from New South Wales, Australia. By using the site you agree to these terms.

Your account

You need to be 16 or older. One account per person, with a real email address. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what's posted from your account. You can delete it any time from your account page.

What you post

Forum posts, reviews, messages, book listings, chapter previews and advance copies stay yours. You give Bervet permission to show them on the site (an advance copy only to the readers you let in), in the weekly email, and in link previews and search results that point to the site, for as long as they're up. Don't post anything you don't have the right to post.

Everything you post has to follow the community rules. Bervet can hide or remove anything that doesn't, and suspend or close accounts that keep breaking them.

Listing a book

Any member can list a book they wrote, or hold the rights to, for free. Listings are for literature: novels, novellas and story collections that are already on sale. No sexually explicit books, and no low-content books (journals, planners, colouring or puzzle books). One listing per book. Listings are checked automatically and can be reported by readers; Bervet can remove any listing at any time. Bervet doesn't pick, review or vouch for the books listed here. Store links you add are shown through Bervet: we remove any affiliate or tracking codes from them and may add our own, and a short link (like amzn.to) is saved as the full address it points to.

Chapter previews

If you add a chapter preview, you confirm that you wrote it, that you're free to share it here, and that the ebook isn't enrolled in Kindle Unlimited (KDP Select). Whether sharing it breaks an agreement you have with a store or publisher is your responsibility. You can remove a preview whenever you like.

Advance copies

If you give them out: you confirm you wrote the book or hold the rights, and that you're free to share it here. Whether that breaks an agreement you have with a store or publisher is your responsibility: in particular, KDP Select asks for the ebook to be exclusive to Amazon while it's enrolled, so close the advance copy before you enrol. Don't ask readers for a review in return, or for a good one. Bervet can close any advance copy at any time.

If you read one: it's for you to read, here. Don't copy, download, screenshot for sharing, or pass it on. Each reader's copy is marked so a leak can be traced, and leaking one gets your account closed. A review is never required; if you write one, make it your honest opinion and say you had a free advance copy wherever that's expected.

Reviews

Reviews must be your honest opinion of a book you've read. Don't review your own book, a book you have a stake in, or a book you were paid or rewarded to review. Don't swap reviews with other authors. Bervet removes reviews that break these rules.

No third-party services

Bervet is for readers and authors, not for selling to them. You may not use the site to offer, advertise or solicit paid services of any kind (covers, editing, formatting, marketing, ghostwriting, reviews and the like). Accounts that do are suspended.

Emails

Bervet emails you about your account, and about the things you've switched on in your email settings. You can switch any of them off from your account page or with the link in the email.

Copyright

If something here uses your work without permission, tell us and Bervet will act quickly.

No guarantees

Bervet works hard to keep the site running and accurate, but it's provided as it is. Bervet isn't responsible for other people's posts, listings, previews, reviews or messages, or for the stores it links to. Nothing here removes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Changes

These terms may change. If a change matters, it's announced on the site before it takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
