On this page (5 sections)
A+ Content is the "From the Publisher" section further down an Amazon book page: a block of images, text and sometimes a chart of your other books, sitting below the description. It's free, and every KDP author can use it.
It won't rescue a weak cover or blurb. Most readers have to scroll to reach it, so it works on people who are already interested and want to know more. For those readers, a few good images and a chart of your series can answer "is this my kind of book?" and "what do I read next?" without them leaving the page.
Where to find it
As at 15 October 2026, you start from the Marketing tab in KDP and open the A+ Content Manager. You can only add A+ to a book that is live or on pre-order, not to a draft.
A+ is published separately in each Amazon store. KDP copies your draft into other live stores that use the same language, which saves rebuilding it, but each copy still has to be submitted in its own store. Check each one before you assume it's there.
What you can build
Each A+ page holds up to five modules, picked from 17. The ones that suit books best:
- Image & Text Overlay: a wide banner image with an optional text box on top. Minimum 970 x 300 px; KDP recommends 1940 x 600 px. Keep words off the image itself and use the text box.
- Single Left Image: a picture beside a block of text. Minimum 600 x 180 px, recommended 600 x 600 px.
- Three Images and Text: three small panels, good for characters, places or three reasons to read. Minimum 300 x 300 px, recommended 600 x 600 px.
- Comparison Chart: up to five books side by side with rows you name yourself (length, setting, standalone or not). KDP's help says to save each cover and upload it (at least 150 x 300 px). In our experience it usually pulls the cover in from the book's ASIN by itself, so you only need the upload if one doesn't appear.
- Product Description Text: plain text, up to 6,000 characters.
Images must be JPG or PNG in RGB, not CMYK, at least 72 dpi, and not animated, so no GIFs. KDP's own pages disagree on the file-size limit: the module help says 3 MB, the guidelines say under 2 MB. Keep every image under 2 MB and you won't hit either.
What gets it rejected
KDP's A+ guidelines are stricter than the rules for your book description. As at 15 October 2026, these are the ones authors trip over most:
- No prices or promotion. No prices, discounts, "free", "bonus", "cheap", "affordable" or "buy now".
- Nothing time-sensitive. No "new", "now", "latest" or "yet", no holidays, and no mention of Kindle Unlimited. That last one surprises people, but it's in the guidelines.
- No customer reviews. Up to four quotes are allowed, but only from well-known publications or public figures, and each must name who said it (and the publication, if there is one). Reader reviews and quotes from friends are out. Editorial reviews belong in Author Central instead.
- No links or contact details. No web addresses, emails, QR codes, or wording that sends readers to another site, including your own.
- No comparisons with competitors. Don't compare your book with other authors' books. A comparison chart can only include books from your own KDP account.
- Awards older than two years can't be mentioned, and any award you do mention needs its date and the organisation that gave it.
- One logo at most. If you have a publisher or author logo, it can appear once.
- No reused images. Pictures must be unique to A+, not copies of what's already in the book's image gallery. Your cover appearing automatically in a comparison chart is fine.
- No text too small to read on a phone, and no blurry or watermarked images.
- House style: spell out numbers under 10, capitalise major words in headings, and keep bold and italics to headings and a few words.
Every image also has an alt text box: a short, accurate description for readers using screen readers. KDP can reject alt text that doesn't describe the image, so write what's actually in the picture.
Setting it up
- In the A+ Content Manager, start new content and pick your language.
- Add your modules, then upload images and write the text. In our experience, uploads go into a KDP image library first, so the same picture can be reused across projects.
- For a comparison chart, type each book's ASIN. If a cover shows an error instead of loading, clearing that column and typing the ASIN again usually fixes it. If not, upload the cover yourself.
- Click Apply ASINs and add every edition you want it on. One project can cover the ebook and the paperback, so readers see the same section whichever format they land on.
- If a book already has A+, KDP asks whether to override it. Overriding replaces the old content on that book once the new one is approved.
- Preview it on desktop and mobile, then Submit for approval.
KDP says approved content appears within eight business days, and it can take longer when they're busy. Plan for the full eight. It can be much quicker: nine A+ projects we submitted in October 2026 were approved within minutes, but that isn't something to count on. If something needs changing, KDP emails you with what to fix.
Making it worth the scroll
- Lead with what the description can't show. A map, a ship, a setting, a character line-up. Don't repeat your blurb.
- Answer "what's this like?" A short line on tone, pace and heat level helps a reader decide faster than another paragraph of plot. Saying who the book probably isn't for builds trust, and it saves you reviews from people who were never going to like it.
- Use the comparison chart for your series. Order, standalone or not, and length are the questions series readers actually have.
- Check it on a phone. That's where most readers will see it.
