What you'll find here
A romance puts the love story at the centre and ends happily. Many romance readers choose by trope, and every book here can show them. Some of the best-loved shapes:
- Enemies to lovers: they can't stand each other, until they can.
- Friends to lovers: the person who was there all along.
- Slow burn: the longing takes its time.
- Second chance: the one who got away comes back.
- Forced proximity: one room, one road trip, one snowstorm.
- Fake relationship: pretending, until it isn't pretend.
- Grumpy and sunshine: opposites, very much attracting.
- Happy ever after: the promise at the end.
Subgenres include contemporary, small-town (small town), romantic comedy, historical romance, romantic suspense and romantasy (see fantasy).
Spice
Bervet doesn't list sexually explicit books. Within that, every romance can show its spice level, from sweet (kisses at most) up. Under More filters you can set a spice limit, and leave out other content you'd rather not read.
Finding your next one
- Pick a trope. Each one has its own page with every book that has it.
- Read chapter 1 first. Meet the leads before you commit. It's free on every book that has it.
- Try "Most finished". Books ranked by how many readers finish the free first chapter. Nobody can pay to be there.
- Read before release. Romance authors give out free advance copies here.
Writing romance?
List your book free, tick your tropes (up to six), and set the spice level honestly: readers use both to choose. If your book belongs to a series, give it the series name and number, and the books get a page together in reading order. KDP keywords and categories covers using tropes as keywords on Amazon.
