First Run
Book 2 of The Drift · the whole series, in order
NV Erika Magnusdóttir runs a Junction 14-A survey. The system reads empty. The harmonic array picks up a return signal. For three weeks, the crew watches a framework take shape that does not, by the institute's standard, qualify as communication. The pulse-test that would push the framework past the threshold is authorised at the standard. The pulse runs.
Three of the Erika's seventeen officers came aboard from the same training cohort. They will leave with the same number aboard, minus one. The institutional record will register the loss as unidentified deep-field phenomenon - junction 14-A vicinity. The family will register it differently.
A complete standalone novel. The second book of The Drift.
